‘Traces II’ is the second of biennial exhibitions initiated by The Jerusalem Artists’ House. In this wide reaching exhibition, approximately 200 drawing works by 90 artists will be shown, along with some 20 poems. The exhibition will be held simultaneously at three locations around Jerusalem: The Artists’ House, The Jerusalem Print Workshop, and Ticho House.

‘Traces II’ is an innovative and unique exhibition on the Israel art scene displaying a combination of drawing and poetry, two arts united by their need for little, arts seen as marginal because of their “uneconomic” status. Here they are placed center stage and exhibit the hidden freedom in the ability to document the passing moment with the lines of a pencil, or in just a few words.

The exhibition includes a series of poets responses to works of art (at The Artists House), a series of artists responses to poetry (at The Jerusalem Print Workshop), and a homage exhibition to the exemplary drawing artist: Aviva Uri (at Ticho House, in collaboration with The Israel Museum).

‘Traces II’ presents a single interpretation to contemporary drawing in Israel. The exhibition shows the work of established artists alongside a long list of younger artists, who are returning to drawing with the sincerity and responsibility characterized by the medium since the days of the Renaissance.

A catalogue, including an essay on drawing and poetry, as well as a selection of the exhibited works and poems, accompanies the exhibition.
