Instrument flight is a situation in which the pilot relies on data transmitted by the navigation instruments rather than on visibility conditions to control the aircraft. Niva Simon’s works are similarly created without full visibility or control, in a process that evolves in the dark room. They bring together the photogram tradition and photography without a camera via digital means using light emanating from a screen or a projector. Simon ties her still photographs and videos with various media images.
The duality between poetic beauty and the sensation of a place at risk are the common ground of the art works in this exhibition.
Rather than engaging with identification of the image, the photographs delve into the intricate perception of a reality photographically portrayed via masking and conversion, and consumed through the social networks and other channels of communication.
