Shalev Rika
Song of Weeds and Trees
Curator: David Gershtain
Opening: Saturday, 15 March 2008
Closing: Saturday, 26 April 2008
Rika Shalev, born and raised in Kibbutz Kinneret, is an artist most worthy of appreciation. She dedicates her great talent to painting the Israeli landscapes out of and into which she grew. She paints Nature as it is perceived by her, while reaching peaks, each time anew. Without a doubt, Rika’s work, serves her libido which nourishes the freshness and liveliness of her work.
This exhibition presents, for the first time, aquarelles, panda paintings and drawings. Rika uses these techniques with great skill, whether implicitly or explicitly, just as she does in her oil and acrylic paintings. Most of the works could be viewed as masterpieces that arouse the viewer’s excitement. There are only few of the kind of this astonishing woman, who generates the best out of the weeds, trees and flowers.
