Blum Aviva



Born in Warsaw. The parents came from Vilna. Her father, Abrasha Blum, was the Bund leader in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Aviva lived in the ghetto and later was hidden among the Polish people.
In 1950 immigrated to Israel with a Hashomer Hatzair group and was a member of Kibbutz Revadim until 1973. Today she lives and works in Jerusalem.
In 1957 she started to study drawing under Schwartzman in Tel-Aviv. From 1958 – 1961 studied painting in the Avni Institute under Streichman. In 1965 – 1966 learned etching with Tuvia Beeri and in the Bezalel Academy.
Since 1960 she participated in many group exhibitions in Israel and abroad. She had 20 monographic exhibitions. Her works comprise oils, watercolors and etchings. She expresses herself in an abstract style based on impressions from nature. In the last years she paints in oil and watercolor abstract images of Jerusalem mountains. She exhibited these paintings in Israel, USA and Poland.
