Ran Or-nah

Or-nah began her creative career at the Architecture program at Ort Technical Academy in Givatayim. She studied fine arts and ceramic sculptures at the Eilat Art Studios. From 1980 until 1985 she majored in sculpture at the Art department of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. In her final year there, she was awarded a scholarship by the America-Israel Cultural Fund. From 1986 until 1988 she continued studying art history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 1990 she completed a course in woodworking. She was awarded a scholarship from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2004 and again in 2005. In 2006 she graduated, getting a Master degree with excellence in India culture studies, specializing in sculpture.

For the past 16 years, Or-nah specialized in environmental sculpture, designing and building large and complex projects. Her uniqueness is manifested by her empathic holistic approach toward cultural and environmental matrix, which completes her individual perspective. She doesn’t simply plant an object in the open; rather she sculpts within each specific environment, from it and for it. This method turns her creations, as soon as they’re born, into landmarks within the landscape and points of social reference.

In the last two years Or-nah has created ceramic sculptures, and continues to develop more environmental sculptures.
